This is a common reason for many games to crash.

Go to the documents folder (\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings II\logs) and check exceptions log to see what caused the crash and where. I would suggest loading the game starting with one mod and then building up until it crashes to figure out what mod is causing the crash. It could be that one of your mods is not compatible with the version of the game you are running. After that, you can turn your antivirus back-on, and CK2 should launch just fine.Estimated Reading Time: 3 mins. Not sure if this will work, but try turning off your antivirus completely, launch CK2, play for a few minutes, then quit.Adjust your resolution through the in-game options and exit the game. The game does not start (Steam version): Right click steamapps/common/crusader kings 2/ck2.exe, set compatibility to run in 640 X 480, then start from this.exe.It need to modify some files that my program was blocking causing CTD. Maybe try to disable your antivirus while first launching the game. Originally posted by TyborPL: I had the same problem with Victoria 2 once.
